The Army loading equipment on the LVA-2 after training on the Big
Island.
It's not showing in the photos, but it was very windy and at times a
strong gust of wind would just sandblast you. They were really
busy loading the ship, not even taking time to eat lunch.
With the new fence, it would take too long for troops to get over to
the park where we usually set up. So, just parked my car by the ship as
I was the only one there and worked out of my trunk (took a bunch of
water, Coke and Dr. Pepper in the ice chest up with me). Even if
I had set up a table, the wind would have just blown it away!
Wasn't able to get too many photos
of the troops because when they came over to the car was too busy just
talking to them and getting them drinks. Webmaster Note: I
went up alone as I had heard there might be troops up
at the port and wanted to check to see if there were and if I could
find out when troops would be there in the future. Our biggest
problem is getting information on when they're going to be up there.
